If you’re looking for a way to make your own cat litter box that’s not going to break your budget, then you’ve come to the right place. Today I’m gonna show you how to make yours in the easiest way possible. Our litter box will have a nice looking and awesome features that will definitely make you and your cat happy. So, here is how you should do it.
Making the box
First, go to your local store or market and purchase a storage container. It’s important to choose a tall one (about 16” high) and large enough so your cat can fit in. The next thing you need to do is mark the entrance on the surface of the container. Make sure you do it large enough so your cat can go through it easily (5” wide and 8” high is good). Remove all the sharp and pointy ends on the door so they won’t scratch your cat when it going through. Remember to spare about 4” from the bottom of your container to the entrance.
The next thing to do is making a filter tray. Use a metal net that has holes which the litter could easily get through. Put it on the bottom of your litter box. Then fill the container with litter. Make sure the filter tray stay on the bottom of your container.
Cleaning the waste
When you want to remove the poops and urine on the litter box, simply open the top of the box and take the filter tray out. Be careful not to let the poops fall out. After that, simply press down the filter tray onto the litter until it reaches the bottom. Put on the cover and you’re good to go.
Adding or changing litter
If you think your litter box is running short on litter, open the top cover and pour some into it. You should clean the wastes before doing this to avoid them stuck deeper on your box.
One more thing, if you’re planning to change the litter, you should remove all the poops and urine first. Then take all the old litter out. Remember to clean your box a little bit before putting a new type of litter in. This will remove the smell of the old litter and replace it with a new scent. Your cat won’t feel confusing when using its new type of litter.
